You know what’s the best part about having audiobooks while you work? They bring so much inspiration, and a bit of magic in your daily otherwise a bit boring (?) life. Yesterday i started reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and boy it has given me all the feelings! It’s like i’m 12 again reading Harry Potter for the first time.

I don’t quite know how this totem resembles magic or magical creatures of some sorts, but i have the feeling these sparkles come out of the tip of a wand. What do you think? And for the first time i think, i’m giving this one away as a printable in black and white to frame it on your walls. Enjoy!

150 gr Belgian Butter-Waffles, crushed

60 gr Unsalted butter, melted

90 gr Unsweetened chocolate, chopped

1 Cup Flour

1/3 Cup Raw cacao

1 Tsp Baking powder

1 Cup Granulated sugar

60 gr Unsalted butter, at room temperature

1 Egg

1 Egg yolk

½ Cup Sour cream or Greek yogurt

½ Cup Boiling water

2 Cups Heavy whipping cream, cooled

74gr Instant vanilla pudding powder

250 gr Powder sugar

1 Vanilla bean or 1 tsp vanilla extract

Maple syrup and Waffles for topping

01. Preheat oven to 180c.

02. Line a 12 cup cupcakes tin with paper liners.

03. Melt the chopped chocolate in a bain-marie (or in the microwave). Set aside

04. Combine the crushed waffle with the melted butter and a pinch of salt. Press a tablespoon of mixture into the bottom of each liner. Bake for 5min and allow to slightly cool. Set aside.

05. In a big bowl, whisk the flour together with the cacao, baking powder and a pinch of salt. Set aside

06. Using a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugar until soft.

07. Mix in egg, egg yolk and half of the vanilla paste until combined.

08. Add melted chocolate and sour cream. Beat for few seconds.

09. Add half of the flour mixture and mix on low speed until combined. Add the remaining half and then quickly stir in the boiling water. (Just stir until evenly combined)

10. Spoon the butter onto the waffle-crust. Bake for about 30 min., or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

11. Allow the cupcakes to cool for 2 min., then remove to cooling rack to finish cooling. Meanwhile, let’s make the frosting.

12. In the bowl of the stand mixer, whip on medium speed the heavy cream with the sugar, instant pudding powder and the remaining vanilla paste until stiff peaks form.

13. Pipe or spread the frosting on top of each cupcake.

14. Drizzle some maple syrup and garnish with mini waffles.

You know when it’s one of those day all you want to do is stay in bed and do absolutely nothing? Well, i’ve had more than i can count the past weeks. I’m full of inspiration and yet somehow, those bluh days get me. I guess it’s not that bad to unwind sometimes and gather energy right?

So here’s my iPhone wallpaper for this week. I’ll just stay in bed and write to you from here 😉

I just love this transformation from summer to Autumn. Waking up to a storm and finally that cool weather. Where you can wear your rain boots and step right into puddles. Watch the droplets and the beautiful sound of rain on the umbrella. A nap while hearing the thunderstorm and an evening hot chocolate at the porch while the rain washes the grass and roses.

Can anyone fall in love with a season more?

The season before leaving for vacation, must have been one of the most stressful in my whole working life. I have no idea what do i always think booking so many projects especially right before vacation. Well, you know. I’m one of those who can’t say no to a great project no matter the cost and prefer to burn myself instead of disappointing a client.

Besides creating pretty things, that’s equally one of my favourite things. Making people happy, safe, comfortable, able to communicate and know they’re in good hands relying on me and leaving their business’s future to me. Having a bad communication, outcome or a relationship that doesn’t end to a good collaboration is my worst nightmare. I can work around pretty much anything. Tight deadlines, someone not liking my work, i can reassure and work harder until i please them all. But you know, it’s not always about us (the designers). I’ve been in situations before, where no matter how good you are and how great you do your job, the person on the other side will be just that. Difficult.

I don’t think i have ever lost my temper to anyone or not have gone a step further to please them. And that is what i think it’s all about. Great collaborations with your clients is about being personal, being honest, working a little more, making them happy and most of all be patient. No matter how difficult the case is, who’s right or who’s wrong, you above all, are a professional. And trust me, the feeling of have gone a few steps further and having kept your cool is much more rewarding than putting someone in their place. At least, that’s what makes me a happy freelancer inside and out.

There’s a lot of love going on today and wanted to share some of it with you.

Funny thing about this pretty plant, is that it sits outside our entrance door. I’ve been looking around for some nice plants to shoot on pretty colourful walls and one day it just clicked. Our house is pink (oh my God, yes it is) and this green and pink beauty was just sitting there waiting for me to take pictures of it. And naturally he posed like a proper model.

Totally swooning over this mood! Even though we’re nowhere close to summer this week. Lots of rain and thunderstorms over here, and i couldn’t love it more! Treating myself to some hot cocoa and i think that’s the main reason why.

Today is one of those days that i hold on to as much as i can. One of those bright days when you feel you can achieve anything, do everything, be the best at what you do and the inspiration and creativity flows all around you. Lately i’ve figured, it’s how we choose to wake up in the morning. See the bright side in things and choose to have a good day.

September feels like such a great month so far and we’re only at the beginning! We’re rebranding Courses while i’m writing 4 new topics to launch in this and next month; Web Design, Big First Steps in Freelancing, Creating your Personal Style & an Instagram Bootcamp! On of it all, i’m slowly designing new things for the shop. These probably won’t launch any time soon as i want to take all the time in the world to create pretty much the best of me – but it will be worth the wait. Which is why, we’re doing our very first sale on the shop, with up to 25% off (hehe proud mama over here) What’s more, a rebrand and update on my beloved portfolio. This is a project i love doing every season and i have so much in my mind for this volume.

A couple of days ago, i found myself being inspired so much by the 20’s – such a beautiful era wasn’t it? The details, the golden touches, the colours – i feel like i found my new obsession. So today’s graphic project is slightly inspired by the 1920’s. Kinda loving this mood! Have an awesome week y’all!
