Well don’t i have some awesome giveaways going on lately? I may have skipped a couple of posts last week, including the tfl, but it was all for a good reason. I’m working on an amazing project, and had to fly on a quick business trip, that turned out to be just what i needed.
There’s a lot of giveaways waiting for you this month here, what’s not awesome about winning things right? But this one, is very dear to me. I’ve teamed up with my lovely ladies Latrina
to celebrate the shops we love.
I could not help but pick Primecut
bags, because, well it’s one of the most amazing shops i know. We’re holding mini interviews on our blogs from the shops we chose, so not only you get to win great things from them, you get to know all about them as well.
style, aesthetics, collection is all i want to see. It’s clean, special, stands out and you can definitely feel the quality and love she’s putting to her creations.
Where do you get the inspiration for your designs?
I find inspiration for my designs through natural forms and textures. The materials that I like to use are most compelling in their pure, untouched and unaltered state.
What’s your favourite material to use?
Right now I am obsessed with a small batch of goat shearlings that I came across. The hides have a very rich, nubby texture and are super soft. They are unlike any other shearlings I’ve seen.
What’s the process of designing a primecut bag?
In general, I try to keep the forms as simple as possible so that the materials can standout. Since the materials I use are natural there are always markings, holes and blemishes that I have to work around. Each hide is unique, therefore it is important to look at the patterning and the way that the hair lays to determine what size and shape of bag is best suited for a particular hide.
How did you get into the leather bags design industry?
Primecut started as a total accident. At the time I was running a different bag company and working in architecture. I had just purchased a heavy duty industrial sewing machine in hopes of expanding to heavier materials. I stumbled upon a beautiful scrap of cowhide on my first shopping trip for leather supplies and ended up making a bag for myself. I fell in love with the bag and the natural beauty of the cowhide, at that moment I realized that it was the perfect opportunity to start a new endeavor.
